Elisa graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor of arts degree in psychology, and from New York University with a master of science degree in clinical nutrition. She was a national media spokesperson for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (formerly the American Dietetic Association) for 6 years, and was a recipient of The New York State Dietetic Association Media Excellence Award in 2007. Elisa is also certified as a personal trainer by the American Council on Exercise.

Elisa is also on the Advisory Board for Parents magazine and parents.com (for which she does a regular Q & A).  Elisa has written freelance articles for several publications including Parents, Woman’s Day, and Weight Watchers, and was a contributing editor for year-long programs for both Redbook and Seventeen magazines. Elisa is the author of Nutrition At Your Fingertips (Alpha Books/Penguin, 2009), which was honored with a 2010 National Health Information Award (Merit). Elisa also co-authored the highly acclaimed Feed Your Family Right! (Wiley, 2007) and So What Can I Eat?! (Wiley, 2006) with Ruth Winter, MS. Elisa has written numerous letters to the editor that have appeared in the New York Times, Time magazine, and U.S. News & World Report.

SPEAKER….

Elisa has been a keynote and featured speaker at several high-profile and local events for consumers and professionals. Some highlights have included helping to unveil the new Got Milk? Pour One More campaign in New York City in January 2011, and speaking at the Food For Your Whole Life conference in New York City, an event headlined by Dr. Mehmet Oz, Dr. David Roizen, Dr. David Katz, and several other distinguished experts in New York City in June 2010. Elisa was also the keynote speaker at two Wiley Faculty Network regional conferences for nutrition educators in Florida and Chicago in 2010.

ON A PERSONAL NOTE…

Elisa enjoys a busy and active life in New York City with her husband Brian and two sons, Spencer and Eli. Playing basketball, tennis, baseball, going bowling, or ice skating with her boys are some of her favorite activities. She also loves to take long walks, jog, and weight train regularly (and to spice things up, tap dance, too). She also makes sure to satisfy her sweet tooth with a little bit of chocolate each day.

Elisa is a Registered Dietitian with The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (registration number 819789). She is also a certified Dietitian-Nutritionist with The University of the State of New York Education Department (license number 004635-1). She is a member of the New York State Dietetic Association and the Greater New York Dietetic Association, as well as the following American Dietetic Association Dietetic practice groups: Dietitians in Business and Communications; Nutrition Education for the Public; Nutrition Entrepreneurs; School Nutrition Services; Weight Management; and Women’s Health.
