Boost Your Mood With Food

We all have stresses in our lives—illness, work and family commitments, and surprises that come out of nowhere on any given day. Some of you have told me you deal with stress by taking a fitness class or a run, walking or talking with a friend, hitting a punching bag, cleaning your home, or dare I say it—having sex! While these are all healthful moves, some of you de-stress by making a habit out of turning to comfort foods like chocolate, candy, baked goods, or cheese. Of course a few treats here and there won’t derail a healthful diet. But what’s best for your mood is to eat regularly and consistently–this will keep your blood sugar levels steady and prevent hunger that can make you crabby. What you eat is also important–  studies show that consuming certain foods may profoundly impact your stress level, mood, and overall outlook on life. I had the opportunity to discuss mood-boosting foods at the gorgeous Whole Foods Market on the Upper West Side of Manhattan for CBS.com’s Health and Wellness show with Dr. Jennifer Ashton; take a peek! http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-504544_162-20004683-504544.html?tag=mncol;lst;1
